Floyd Schmidt of Eagle River WI will be discussing his book, The Wisconsin & Michigan Railroad and its Subsidiaries. The railroad ran from Peshtigo Harbor, WI to Iron Mountain, Michigan. It went into service in 1895 and was abandoned in 1938. The presentation will be at the Jake Menghini Museum, Norway, Michigan on October 18th at 2pm and 6pm.
Mr. Schmidt, and his wife Bobbie, spent many hours here at the museum in our Genealogy Room looking at pictures and the articles we have here. We are just one of many places they visited to compile their book. Jim Stanek, one of our board members, and Floyd have struck up a wonderful friendship over the years. Jim seemed to be here giving tours many times when Floyd came to do research for the book.
Mr. Schmidt will give a power-point program, showing the pictures, he has gathered in his travels and he will have much information and tales to tell us about the railway.
His 214-page book, which he will have for sale, has wonderful pictures, memorabilia and articles that will spur many memories for all of us.
