On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at approximately 6:08 a.m., Marinette County Dispatch was notified of a
residential structure fire at W9039 Holmes Junction Road in the Town of Pembine, Marinette County.
The Beecher Dunbar Pembine Fire Department and Amberg Fire Department responded to the scene
along with deputies from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.
During fire suppression efforts, a search was conducted by fire members, and a male occupant was
located, removed from the residence, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The male is identified as
Roy J. Newling, age 30, of Pembine. Three other occupants of the home, a 30-year-old female, a 9-year-
old child, and a 2-year-old child were transported for medical treatment. The fire remains under
investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s
Office. Our thoughts are with the Newling family during this difficult time.
Also assisting at the scene were members from the Beecher Dunbar Pembine Rescue, Wausaukee Rescue,
and Integrity Care EMS.
The Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office notified the sheriff’s office that a second person,
Aurora R. Newling, age 2, died on Friday, March 20, 2026, due to injuries sustained in the residential
structure fire at W9039 Holmes Junction Road in the Town of Pembine in Marinette County on March 17,
2026. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Newling family during this difficult time.
