IRON MOUNTAIN, MI (November 22, 2024)– First National Bank & Trust is pleased to be the Presenting Sponsor of the 2024 Downtown Christmas Walk and Community Christmas Tree Lighting, set for Friday, December 6, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. The conclusion of the evening, the tree lighting ceremony, will take place at 6:00 PM, following the arrival of Santa Claus and the festive Downtown Christmas Walk foot parade at the First National downtown outdoor plaza.
This year’s Community Christmas Tree was once again generously donated by Swanson’s Big Red Barn Holiday Events, located in Niagara, and set up and decorated by Bacco Construction.
The Downtown Christmas Walk will feature a variety of activities designed to bring holiday cheer to the entire community, including the Downtown Window Decorating Contest, where participants can vote for their favorite holiday displays. Winning businesses will receive DDA mini-grants to support local commerce. The event will also showcase a live nativity performance by Bishop Baraga Catholic School at the Systems Control Downtown Stage.
The Dickinson County Library will host Santa and Mrs. Claus for meet-and-greet and photo opportunities from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. This year, no registration is required for visits with the Clauses. Additionally, the Library will host indoor holiday activities for all ages, including the Kingsford High School Jazz Band with live holiday music, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM
“Once again this year, we are excited to provide an opportunity for kids to visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause,” says Megan Rose, Dickinson County Library Director. “The library will also have Christmas Craft making for all ages and cookies provided by our Friends of the Library.”
“We are thrilled to once again partner with First National Bank & Trust for this wonderful holiday tradition,” said Katherine Mentel, Event Coordinator for the Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority (DDA). “Their generous sponsorship allows us to create a joyful evening for families, as well as support local businesses through the Window Decorating Contest mini-grants. We are also excited to bring back Santa’s Mailboxes! Children can drop off their letters to Santa at the Library or City Hall, and he will take them back to the North Pole. We’re so fortunate to have such a strong, supportive community to make this event possible.”
Russ Kassin, President & CEO of First National Bank & Trust, added, “We are proud to continue our support for the Downtown Christmas Walk and Tree Lighting Ceremony. This event is a highlight of the holiday season in Iron Mountain, and we’re honored to be part of such a festive and meaningful annual tradition that brings people together to celebrate the Christmas spirit.”
Returning again this year is Radio Results Network as an official media sponsor to help support and promote the event. “We’re excited to support the Downtown Christmas Walk and the Community Christmas Tree Lighting,” said Jesse Huff, General Manager of Radio Results Network. “It’s always rewarding to bring the community together, especially during the holiday season, benefiting both our residents and local businesses. A big thank you to First National, Dickinson County Library, Bacco Construction, Swanson’s Big Red Barn, the Iron Mountain DDA, and all the other generous sponsors who make this event a success. We encourage everyone to join us for this memorable celebration!”
