(Kingsford, MI)
At 4:58PM, on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2019, Kingsford Public Safety was dispatched to a 911 call to Scotty’s Muffler at 941 S. Carpenter Ave., for a report of a fire.
Upon officers arrival at 5:00M, the owner had extinguished most of the fire with extinguishers. KPSD Officers further used extinguishers from a squad car to complete the fire suppression prior to the fire truck arrival. There was no damage to the structure, and minimal damage to some contents. It was determined that a vehicle fuel line malfunction was the cause of the incident.
There were no injuries.
All units cleared at 5:23PM.
On Friday, Sept. 4, 2019, at 5:44AM, KPSD was called back to the address for smoke coming from the building. Upon investigation, it was determined that a possible electrical short from the previous incident had caused some insulation located in the ceiling area to smolder.
The ceiling area was checked over and the smoldering insulation was removed. All units cleared at 8:05AM.
