HOUGHTON COUNTY, Mich – State Police are investigating a fatal snowmobile crash. It happened Wednesday in southern Houghton County on Trail 8 near M-28. Police say 41-year-old Jamie Steen of Curtiss, Wisconsin lost control of the snowmobile going around a curve and hit a tree. The driver was killed in the crash. The preliminary investigation indicates speed was a factor in the accident. Also, an Illinois woman was injured injured in the crash of the machine she was operating. The accident occurred on Trail #3 in Mass City. Seventy Four year old Judi Ann Young of Beloit, Illinois was ejected when the snowmobile ski caught on a chunk of ice causing the machine to overturn. She was taken by SONCO Ambulance to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital for treatment. Speed of the snowmobile and the use of alcohol were not factors in the crash.
