(IRONWOOD, MI.)–The possible fatality in the crash of the snowmobile was released by the sheriff’s office personnel who said the incident occurred on U.S. 2 and the Ramsay Crossing intersection shortly before 1pm. The initial investigation revealed the victim attempted to cross U.S. 2 on his snowmobile when he was struck by an eastbound pickup truck. The victim was transported to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital by Beacon Ambulance where he was pronounced dead. It does not appear at this time that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident, although it’s likely the weather and visibility were significant factors, deputies said. The fatal accident occurred just over a day after a Hudson, Wis., woman was killed on Powderhorn Road, just north of U.S. 2 in Gogegic County. She lost control of her sled in a ditch, and was struck by another rider in her group.
