RE: Community Work Bee
KIWANIS SKI CLUB HOSTING COMMUNITY WORK BEE AT SKI JUMP COMPLEX THIS SUNDAY
Iron Mountain – The Kiwanis Ski Club will host a community Work-bee at the ski jump complex on Sunday, September, 18, starting at 9AM. The ski club is hoping that with the help of the loyal ski jumping fans, that the fall site preparations will be a fun team building experience instead of the cumbersome exhausting work it has become.
The list of things that need to be done is very diverse, as are the talents of the people willing to volunteer to help. The Kiwanis Ski Club will provide team leaders for the projects. Here are some of the things that need to be done:
– General cleaning of all buildings: vacuum, wash floors, wash windows etc., we will provide necessary supplies
-The following projects we are requesting volunteers to bring their own equipment and this is at your own risk. (ski club will provide premium gas for gas powered equipment)
-Lots of weed eating is necessary (both outrun fence lines in and out, marker steps, sideboards on landing hill and more)
-Some small trees need to be cut requiring snips or chain saws.
-We need people to move brush that is cut to a central location for removal.
-SPECIALIZED HELP NEEDED
– Anyone with equipment and knowledge to repair chain link fencing – we have caps that have come off and some straightening to do.
The Kiwanis Ski Club will provide lunch and refreshments for the volunteers. If you can’t make it at 9AM, please come when you can. We will have crews working at the top and bottom of the hill.
We are asking that volunteers be of at least 16 years of age and remind everyone that your volunteerism and the equipment you bring is at your own risk.
Rain date for the event will be Sunday, September 25.
