The Iron Mountain Police Department and Iron Mountain Fire Department were dispatched to an accident involving a male subject on an electric scooter that occurred on the sidewalk in the 800 Block of South Carpenter Ave. This incident/accident occurred at 9:45pm on 08/21/21. At the time of the accident, four adults were on different electric scooters Southbound on the sidewalk. The fourth scooter in the group crashed with the occupant sustaining fatal injuries. The 39–year–old male subject from Green Bay Wisconsin passed away at Dickinson County Hospital within an hour of the accident. Although not required by law, the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Individuals who are under 19 years of age are required by law to wear a crash helmet while using an electric scooter.
The Iron Mountain Police and Iron Mountain Fire Departments were assisted on scene by Integrity Care EMS who treated the victim and transported him to Dickinson County Hospital.
