The James “Harvey” Moore Memorial Volleyball Tournament will take place beginning at noon on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at The Thirsty Whale in Norway, MI. This tournament will benefit Holy Spirit Catholic School.
Those among you who knew “Harvey” knew his love of children, giving back to the community, and sports, and couldn’t help but notice his ability to light up a room just by walking in. Harv loved playing volleyball at The Thirsty Whale, and did so for years. He once asked Paula Pieropon, the proprietor of The Thirsty Whale, “Who’s the oldest player in the league?” Paula laughed and told him, “It’s been you for years!” He happily re-told that story many times!
Come out in Harvey’s honor and play at our Co-ed 6’s volleyball tournament to benefit Holy Spirit Catholic School, because Jim was always committed to giving back to the community.
Registration is a minimum $75 per team, but you are encouraged to secure additional sponsors in $75 increments. The team with the most sponsors will win a free meal at The Thirsty Whale. You may pre-register your team by calling Paula at (906) 563-2004 or (906) 563-5466. Registration fees are due the day of the event.
The event will also feature a Basket Raffle and 50/50 Raffle. You will be able to view the baskets at the school (Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm), or online on The Thirsty Whale and Holy Spirit Catholic School’s facebook pages after May 15th. Advance raffle tickets will be available for purchase at Holy Spirit during school hours, as well as after Mass at St. Mary’s and St. Barbara’s Churches on May 20/21 and May 27/28, 2017.
While the tournament is happening, there will be food and beverages available. We will be offering hotdogs, brats, turkey dressing sandwiches, pulled pork, chips, soda, and adult beverages. There will also be youth competitions for special prizes.
You do not need to be on a team to come and enjoy the fun. Come out one and all, and be like Harv--support your community and have a great time at The Thirsty Whale!
