(IRON MOUNTAIN, MI.)– Dickinson County Board of Commissioners believe they are close to wrapping up contract talks with union employees. Then it’s on to the 2018 budget. Contracts expire at the end of the year for nearly 70- county employees represented by four collective bargaining units. Several weeks ago the negotiations began, and it appears they may be prepared to ratify the contracts at their next meeting shortly after Christmas. At the Monday evening meeting, board members also approved the purchase of a BOSS snowplow from Town & Country Sales of Quinnesec rather than from the SnowDogg plow from R&R Tire Sales and Service of Iron Mountain. Several appointments were made at the meeting as well. The board members also approved of the posting of a vacancy by Sheriff Scott Rutter because of a resignation. They also approved of the appointment of Donna Hayes of Norway to the Dickinson County Library Board; Abbey Anderson of Iron Mountain to fill the term on the Dickinson County Planning Commission; and the reappointment of Alan Perla to the Dickinson County Veteran Affairs Board.
