(PORTERFIELD, WI.)–The crash of a single vehicle claimed the life of a man in his mid-20’s on Monday, Marinette County Sheriff, Jerry Sauve said, the accident occurred at approximately 2:46am on State Highway 180, South of Nettleton Road in the Town of Porterfield when the victim’s vehicle veered left across the highway impacting several trees beyond the ditch line. He is believed to have been living in Crivitz at the time of the crash. Marinette County coroner, George Smith, pronounced him dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The accident remains under investigation. The speed of the vehicle and the use of alcohol apparently were factors in the accident. The accident remains under investigation. The death is the 6th traffic fatality of the year in Marinette County.
