(IRON MOUNTAIN, MI.)–The community is awaiting the final results from Director of Police and Fire Services, Ed Mattson, in the incident from this morning, which forced the lockdown of several businesses and Bay West Campus. The lockdowns were at MJ Electric, Boss Snowplow, who said a vehicle entered their parking lot at a high rate of speed, forcing them to contact Iron Mountain Police, the individual dropped off one vehicle then another employee vehicle was stolen, and, at Systems Control. Numerous rounds of bullets were fired in the area of Skidmore Drive, nearly two dozen. A shootout with an individual and police, the suspect wound in the abdomen and believed to have died, although we continue to wait for comments for the Director. The members of the Michigan Crime Lab are continuing to investigate which also will involve identifying just where each bullet may have traveled, also, looking for a possible motive in the this whole incident. A police officer was also believed to have been wounded; a slight bullet wound to the head. That still needs to be verified. It was believed the officer was taken by ambulance to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. Once all the investigations are completed a wrap up of the events should be released by Mattson.
