Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve reports that at 8:27am on July 19, 2018, Marinette County Dispatch received calls of a serious crash involving a log hauling truck and a car on County Hwy “F” just West of County Hwy “C” in the Town of Silver Cliff.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Silver cliff Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Initial investigation of the crash showed that a four door sedan was eastbound on County “F” when it went left of the centerline and hit head on an empty log hauling semi-truck that was westbound.
The driver of the semi was not injured. The driver of the car was pronounce dead on the scene from massive internal injuries by Marinette County Coroner George Smith. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The deceased is believed to be a white male in his mid-30’s from Green Bay WI. His name is being withheld at this time pending further investigation and notification of his family. The Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Silver Cliff and Lakewood Fire Departments, Silver Cliff Rescue Squad, The Wisconsin State Patrol, The Marinette County Highway Department and the Marinette County Coroner.
This crash investigation is continuing by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office & Coroner.
This is the fourth traffic fatality in Marinette County in 2018.
