(NASHVILLE, TN)–A former local resident, who now lives in Appleton, suffering injuries after being shot during a robbery attempt. The incident occurred in East Nashville, Tennessee, when Jim Counter apparently made a stop for coffee. Police said he was approached by two women who demanded money during the robbery when one fired shots at him causing the critical injuries. Police said a 23-year-old woman has been detained and is under investigation in connection with an East Nashville robbery attempt. The apparent robbery attempt occurred on West Eastland Avenue near McFerrin Avenue on Wednesday afternoon about 1:30 p.m. Police say two women drove up in a grey four-door Dodge Avenger with tinted windows and a black racing stripe down the middle and demanded the victim’s belongings. During the ensuing altercation, Counter was shot in the upper torso. The man suffered major injuries in the shooting. Police identified Counter from his identification. Police say he was in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but is expected to recover. Undercover officers and a police helicopter were able to track down the Dodge Avenger suspected of being involved in the shooting. Police say the 23-year-old female driver stopped the car on Felicia Street. She is under investigation, and a pistol was found in the car by police.
