(IRON MOUNTAIN, MI.)–The Iron Mountain Fire and Iron Mountain Police Departments were dispatched to a three car personal injury accident at 12:03pm on 01/31/18. The accident happened on US-2 near “H” Street as well as in the Neu Cup parking lot. A pickup truck was South bound on US-2 approaching “H” Street when the 62 year old male driver from Crystal Falls experienced a life threatening medical condition causing him to go unconscious. At this time the pickup truck crossed the center line of the roadway and struck a passenger car that was stopped on US-2 waiting to turn West bound onto “H” Street. After striking the passenger car, the pickup truck left the roadway continuing onto the sidewalk still South bound. After traveling on the sidewalk still South bound, the pickup truck struck a second pickup truck parked in the Neu Cup parking lot. After this impact in the Neu Cup parking lot, the pickup truck spun around and then continued North bound up an embankment where it stopped moving. Responding firefighters and a responding officer were able to remove the subject from the pickup truck and disable the vehicle that was still in drive with the wheels spinning at a high rate of speed. The only injury was the 62 year old male driver of the pickup truck, he transported to Dickinson County Hospital for treatment by Integrity Care EMS.
