(SHINGLETON, MI.)–A snowmobile crash, one dead, one injured. The accident in Alger County, near Shingleton. The investigation found a 34-year old male and a 34-year old female were traveling westbound on Trail #8, on separate machines, when they failed to negotiate a curve in the trail. The snowmobiles left the trail striking several trees. The female victim was transported to Munising Memorial Hospital where she was treated for injuries. The male victim was pronounced at the scene. The cause of the accident is attributed to excessive speed and operational inexperience. Alcohol was not a contributing factor. The names of those involved in the accident included Jason Bashor of Maryland, fatal injuries, pronounced dead at the scene and Shaena Hicks of Virginia treated for her injuries at Munising Memorial.
