(KINGSFORD, MI.)–Over 11,000 boardings at Ford Airport, through August of this year. That information on Monday night from Dickinson County Controller, Brian Bousley.
In August, the airport passed the ten thousand enplanement threshold needed to qualify for up to $1 million in Airport Improvement Program funds. That program began years ago and the county has qualified for several time for the AIP funds available to primary airports. The money will be used to update the runway with projects, this will include additional lighting. The projects should begin in earl spring. The current federal EAS contract provides an annual subsidy of up to nearly $4-million for the thirteen direct round trips per week, with seven to Minneapolis and six to Detroit. The EAS program provides commercial airline service.
