(GARDEN CORNERS, MI.)–Sixty one-year old, Donald Kuhr of Rapid River died in a traffic crash on Monday afternoon. The accident occurred at Garden Corners, US-2 and County Road 483.
The driver has been identified as 61-year-old Donald Kuhr.
According to the Michigan State Police, a call came in at 4:51 p.m. informing them a semi struck a car at the corner of US-2 and County Road 483. The passenger operated by Kuhr was heavily damaged, while the semi was in the ditch area, on the north side of the road. Jaws of Life were used to free Kuhr from the vehicle. He was taken by ambulance to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Michigan State Police troopers said apparently Kuhr didn’t stop when pulling out of a parking lot and was struck by the semi.
The semi driver was not injured. He was treated and released at the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
Troopers from the Gladstone Post and St. Ignace Post Manistique Detachment were assisted on scene by Garden Fire Department, Nahma Fire Department, DNR, Delta County Sheriff Department, Schoolcraft County Sheriff Department, Rampart, Tri-Star EMS Ambulance, MSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, Gene’s Towing and Pro Towing.
