(IRON MOUNTAIN, MI)– Veterans and their families are invited to Veteran Town Halls being hosted in the region by the Oscar G. Johnson September 5 and 6, 2017. Veteran Town Halls will be held on Tuesday, September 5, at 2 p.m. in Mohawk at American Legion Post 230, located at 122 Stanton Avenue, and at 6 p.m. in Hancock at American Legion Post 186, located at 1308 Quincy Street. On Wednesday, September 6, a town hall will be held at 10 a.m. in Bruce Crossing at VFW Post 9345, located at 14939 M-28 E. Leaders from the VA Medical Center, Escanaba Vet Center, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and County Veteran Service Officers will be on hand to provide a presentation on VA services, discuss initiatives to increase access to VA healthcare, answer questions, and listen to Veterans comments and concerns. There will also be a presentation of Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Pins to Vietnam Era Veterans who served from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. “We have done a number of these Veteran Town Halls and found them to be very beneficial in our understanding of Veterans concerns and helping them to resolve any issues they may have, “ said Brad Nelson, Public Affairs Officer at the Iron Mountain-based VA Medical Center. In the last five years the VA medical center has conducted forty-eight Veteran Town Halls throughout the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin.
