(KINGSFORD, MI.)–At 9:29 this morning, Kingsford Public Safety Department personnel were dispatched via 911 to the residence on Sherman Street where smoke was seen in the eaves. Officers found the residence was locked resulting in forced entry where they located an unconscious 91-year old male in his bedroom. Officers removed him from the residence and to a waiting ambulance where he was treated on scene then transported to Dickinson County Memorial where he was admitted for observation. KPSD officers determined the fire had started in the attic above the kitchen. The was contained to that area. Officers cleared the scene at approximately 11am. The smoke was observed by a young boy playing outside who reported it to his grandmother, who called 911. KPSD officers were assisted at the scene by Beacon Ambulance Service, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, WE Energies, DTE and Kingsford Public Works Department.
