(MADISON, WI.)–One of the most successful drug take back days occurred in Wisconsin this past Saturday. The Attorney General for Wisconsin, Brad Schimel says about 71-percent of the people who abuse prescription painkillers got them from a family member or friend, often in cases where the drugs left sitting at home. “So if we can get these things out of people’s homes, we can reduce 71-percent of the people who start abusing those.” Wisconsin has consistently set records with past take back events, and Schimel says they were hoping to continue that success with this month’s effort, and did so with a record amount of drugs taken from homes and set for disposal. There were sites set up across Wisconsin as drop-off sites that will also serve as year round sites, on the state’s “Dose of Reality” website.
