(Bates Township, MI.)–On Thursday last week, troopers from the Iron Mountain State Police Post were dispatched to a Bates Township residence in response to a report of an accidental shooting. The preliminary investigation determined a 20-year old female had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The victim’s name is being withheld at this time at request of family members, according to troopers. Troopers were assisted by Michigan State Police detectives, Michigan State Police Crime Lab personnel, Iron County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Aspirus Hospital EMS. The investigation is ongoing at this time and is believed to be an accidental shooting.
