Warning:
City of Crystal Falls who operates the hydroelectric power plant on the Paint River in Crystal Falls is posting this warning to all people who enjoy winter activities on the Paint River and its tributaries:
Stay off the river!
The Paint River level is rising rapidly and the flow rate is about 5 times more than what is seen in a normal year at this time. With this amount of flow, the ice could deteriorate in a matter of hours. Due to the unseasonable warm weather pattern and rain, river flows are approaching spring run levels, where ice could be swept away in a very short time. The Paint River upstream and downstream of Crystal Falls can be impacted as well as all connecting tributaries. Due to the volatility of the ice conditions: Stay off the river!
