Iron County Sheriff’s Office officials have updated information on the fatal traffic accident in Iron County. The accident occurred on Wednesday morning at 7:54am on US-2 near Wild River Road, when an SUV rear ended an Iron County Road Commission grader clearing the shoulder of the roadway. The driver of the SUV, 35-year old Angela Esbrook of Iron River and two passengers, a 12-year old female and a 17-year old male, also of Iron River, were injured. They were transported to Aspirus Hospital by ambulance. One passenger, 14-year old Justin Henschel was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the grader suffered minor injuries and sought his own treatment. The accident closed a portion of US-2 for approximately 7-hours. The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Iron County Central Dispatch, Michigan State Police Accident Investigators, Aspirus EMS, West Iron County Fire Department, Iron County Search and Rescue and Iron River Police assisted deputies at the scene.
