The Parkinson Society of Dickinson County Area, a support group for Parkinson patients, caregivers, family and friends,
will meet on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Evergreen Assisted Living Activity Room on Mary's Way in Kingsford, MI. Mary's Way
is off Westwood Ave.just past Kingsford Public Safety Building and Bianco's Physical Fitness. The meeting is there because of
activities interference at the church. The meeting :will begin at 10:00 with the program, "Dancing and Movement for Those With
Parkinson's Disease" presented by Marge Sklar of Dance Zone in Marquette. Dancing has been found to be one of the movement
activities that help Parkinson patients live a quality life and ease several of the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease, including
balance, flexibility, and gait speed. Studies indicate that dance helps not only people with PD but Alzheimer's patients and people with age related cognitive deficiencies as well.
Marge will demonstrate some of the dance activities she uses at her studio.
Coffee and snacks will be available after the program.
The Parkinson meeting will be held after the program with music, exercises and the business of the group. Discussion will be
held concerning the upcoming Parkinson's UP Symposium to be held at Bay West College on August 17. Participants are
invited from throughout the UP and northern Wisconsin. Volunteers will be needed for that day. Keynote speakers coming are
