The Niagara Lions Club will sponsor its annual winter meat and rifle raffle at Bob’s Country Bar on Saturday, January 27, beginning at noon. The meat raffle will be held during the afternoon to be followed by the drawings for the gun and other prizes. The fun will continue into the evening with musical entertainment being performed. There is no cover charge and it promises to be a very fun and entertaining full day of activities with great meat, great rifle prizes, and great music and a great way to battle the wintertime blues. Proceeds from the sale will help the Lions continue to financially support many community projects including helping pay the cost of the 2018 Lions Picnic fireworks.
Festivities will get underway at noon with the first drawing meat raffle drawing being shortly after. A large selection of meat delicacies will be again be supplied by Marcouiller Foods and Kooch’s Meats. Meat raffle winners will choose from among a mouth-watering assortment of meats that will include various steaks, including rib eye, tenderloin, New York Strip, and T-Bones. Other offerings will include pork chops, pork steak, pork loins, ham, and bacon. There will be no cover charge and 50-50 drawings will be held. In addition, food and refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon and evening and will feature pizza and the full Bob’s Country Bar sandwich menu.
Drawings for the firearms will get underway at 4:30pm with Lion Joe Johnston again serving as chairman of the event. Tickets will be available at the event and are also currently on sale at Best Buy Liquor, Big 10 Sports Bar, Bob’s Country Bar, Marcouiller Foods, mBank, Nev’s North Star Bar, Pat’s On Main Barber Shop, Pit Stop Bar, Steeno’s Bar, The Bunker, Uptown Lanes & Lounge, and Forward Financial Credit Union. Tickets are also available in Aurora at Bartoletti’s Supper Club and Tom and Jo’s Liquor Store. Cost is $10.00 per ticket or three for $20.00 and you need not be present to win. Eight prizes will be awarded including seven guns. These include the First place prize of a Browning X-Bolt 7mm Mag with walnut stock; 2nd prize is a DPMS AR-15 Oracle 16”; 3rd prize is a Mossberg 500 Max-4 12GA VR CT-3; 4th prize is a Bear X Crossbow XF425 kit; 5th prize is a Mossberg Patriot 30.06 Kyptek; 6th prize is a Ruger 10/22 Blued Hardwood; 7th prize is a CVA 50Cal Muzzleloader Black/Blued, and 8th prize is a Marlin Model 60. The prizes are currently on display at the various local taverns where tickets are being sold.
In addition to these prizes, starting at 2:30pm special raffles will be held prior to the major prize drawings. These special games give participants a chance to special prizes which last year included additional rifles, a muzzleloader, and a crossbow and similar prizes will be awarded this year.
After the gun raffle and games, in the evening there will be live music featuring popular local Country Western musician Dan Morin. He will be joined by some of his original “Night Train” band members including Ken Puffer and Russell Whitens. Special guests will add to the merriment and will include Doug Morin among others and newcomer Wyatt Aderman will be on the drums.
