(CALUMET, MI)–State Police troopers from the Calumet Post were dispatched to M-28 approximately two mile west of Sidnaw, in Duncan Township on Friday at 1:45pm. A passenger car operated by a 73-year old Baraga woman was traveling westbound on M-23 when her vehicle re-ended an SUV driven by a 50-year old Eveleth, Minnesota woman. The SUV had stopped in the westbound lane for a semi tractor trailer rig which had stopped in that construction zone. The semi was operated by a 49-year old Bad Axe, Michigan man. M-28 was temporarily shut down as a result of the crash. The 73-year old woman was transported to Baraga Cunty Memorial Hospital by Bay EMS, and was later pronounced deceased. Neither of two drivers were injured. Name of the deceased woman is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
