(HOUGHTON, MI.)–A teenage boy was rescued after he fell from a boat while fishing in Portage Lake. Officials say the boy was in the water for about 25 minutes before he was pulled out by passing boaters. The boy’s boat was under power at the time. The unoccupied craft eventually crashed into a dock near Bootjack Road. That drew the attention of the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division, Michigan State Police Troopers, and U.S. Coast Guard Station Portage, who headed up a search. The teenager was not hurt. His name has not been released.
