(IRON MOUNTAIN, MI.)–Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post arrested three individuals in connection with an investigation into an unlawful Driving Away an Automobile complaint in Iron River. It was previously released to the media the Iron Mountain Post troopers was investigating an incident where a state police patrol car was unlawfully driven away. That was on March 8th, when troopers had parked the squad car at Northland Automotive and Powersports for repair work, after the business was closed for the day. Three suspects then drove the vehicle away from the business, on a joyride. They did return the vehicle to the business. After Michigan State Police troopers completed their investigation, the report was submitted to the Iron County Prosecuting Attorney for review. The case was then re-assigned to the Marquette County prosecutor to avoid any conflict of interest. The Marquette County Prosecuting Attorney authorized “joyriding” or Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle charges for all three suspects. All three were arrested and released on a Personal Recognizance bond from the Iron County Jail. Their arraignment date has been set for July 23rd at 1pm. Their names are being withheld until after arraignments, according to troopers at the Iron Mountain Post.
