(AMBERG, WI.)–Marinette County Sheriff, Jerry Sauve reported the first traffic fatality of year, however, the accident occurred on March 16th. According to the sheriff, his department personnel responded to the scene of a three vehicle accident in Amberg which injured several occupants. Later that day, all were treated and released. The Pembine Rescue Squad was paged that evening to a residence in Pembine for a female who collapsed and was unresponsive. The female died at the scene in Pembine. Sheriff Sauve said, “The victim, 66-year old Nancy L. Ross of Pembine was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash earlier in the day and was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital where she had been treated and released.” An autopsy was conducted showing she died of internal injuries. Sheriff Sauve noted, “As a result of the investigation, this is considered a traffic fatality.” Units who responded to the scene initially in the three vehicle accident incident included Marinette County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Marinette County Coroner, Pembine and Wausaukee Rescue Squads, Amberg Fire, Beacon Ambulance Service personnel, Marinette County Highway Department and Wisconsin State Patrol.
