(MADISON, WI.)– Rep. Nygren (R – Marinette) and Rep. Mursau (R – Crivitz), along with their Assembly Republican colleagues, announced a plan to provide additional resources and staffing for District Attorney offices throughout Wisconsin:
“One of the biggest barriers counties face in criminal justice and justice for victims is the shortage of staffing in the district attorneys’ offices,” Rep. Nygren stated. “This proposal will help address that shortage, bringing much needed resources to communities across Wisconsin.”
“We recently provided short term funding for Marinette County to add another full-time ADA position.” Rep. Nygren continued, “With today’s proposal, Marinette County will now make that position permanent.” This issue is about access to justice for crime victims, and ensuring our DA’s have the resources necessary to bring about justice,” Rep. Mursau added. “This proposal will bring 53 new Assistant District Attorney positions to 40 counties throughout Wisconsin. In addition, to Marinette, we will see new positions in Langlade, Shawano and Forest Counties.”
“We’d like to thank Gov. Walker for his support of this proposal, Attorney General Brad Schimel, and Representative Mark Born who were leaders on this initiative.”
