(ISHPEMING, MI.)–Athletic events at Ishpeming High School were canceled, following the death of a student. The Director of Business Services, Anthony Bertucci, in the release, did not reveal the identity of the student. Cause of death was also not addressed. He did call it a sensitive matter and called this a “Time and opportunity to address this sensitive matter.” A team of professionals has been assembled to provide counseling and support for Ishpeming students. This is the second death of an Upper Peninsula student in the past few months. Meanwhile, the Stephenson School District returned to normal earlier this week following the Monday lockdown. That was caused by a bomb threat that was found on a bathroom mirror. In Rudyard, an investigation is continuing in to a shooting threat. That message was posted on a social media. Sheriff’s Office officials downplaying any seriousness to the threat, but, of course are fully investigating the incident as if it was to be carried out.
