(IRON MOUNTAIN, MI.)–Discussion is expected to continue concerning expanding the Friend of the Court to a neighboring county. Iron County would also benefit from the expansion if the idea is approved by the Dickinson County Board of Commissioners. It is expected the Dickinson and Iron County Boards of Commissioners will discuss the details of wages and staff in the move and when such a move might take place. Judges Mary Barglind and Richard Celello addressed the board on Monday night and are expected to do so again, as the discussions get underway with both governing bodies and the players in the move, which is not expected to be a consolidation, but rather a partnership. No date for further discussion has been set. Also on Monday night, Dickinson County Board of Commissioners denied the request from the Prosecuting Attorney, Lisa Richards to relinquish her duties as legal counsel for the board but approved the posting and hiring for an assistant position within the office of the prosecutor and also approved the second road patrol and traffic accident prevention program application of fiscal year 2018 which will begin on October 1st. The board noted, if a committee approves, they will purchase a bulldozer for use at Ford Airport. The price was ordered to not exceed $16,000.
