(IRON MOUNTAIN, MI.)–The Iron Mountain Police Department was dispatched to a two car property damage accident on Lake Antoine Road at Boss Way on Monday, August 7 at 6:30 a.m.
While officers were en route, they were advised that the driver of one of the vehicles had fled the scene on foot into the wooded area of Goulette Park. Iron Mountain Police Department Officers along with officers from Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, and the Kingsford Public Safety Department set up a perimeter to contain the suspect.
At approximately 8:00 a.m. a 26-year-old Negaunee man was located by Trooper Rossler and K-9 Nikko who had also responded to the scene to assist with the search.
Through investigation, it was learned that the vehicle the suspect was driving was stolen from the City of Marquette. The 26-year-old man is currently lodged in the Dickinson County Correctional Center pending formal charges after review of the complaint by Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney Lisa Richards.
