(IRON MOUNTAIN, MI.)–The Iron Mountain Police Department was involved in a high speed pursuit at approximately 9:00pm on Sunday evening that started on the North Side of Iron Mountain on Main Street near Aragon Street. The suspect vehicle initially attempted to evade the traffic stop by fleeing East bound on Fifth Street through the North Elementary School Parking lot. The vehicle, a blue minivan was located fleeing the area on Grant Street near East Margaret St. The pursuit continued to Lake Antoine Road where the vehicle turned east bound and continued onto Upper Pine Creek Road. Stop Sticks were deployed on Upper Pine Creek Road near Boundary Line Road causing two tires to deflate on the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle was located in the parking area of the Fumee Lake Natural Area off of Upper Pine Creek Road. The suspect fled into the wooded area and was not located at that time. A suspect has been developed and a report will be forwarded to Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richards for review. Assisting with the pursuit was the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police and Norway Police Department who were able to deploy the Stop Sticks.
