(IRON MOUNTAIN, MI.)–The EZ Stop Mobil gas station and Burger King in Iron Mountain are considered a total loss following a fire that broke out Saturday afternoon shortly after 3pm.
According to the Iron Mountain Police and Fire Departments, crews were dispatched to 1950 S. Stephenson Avenue at 3:11 p.m. where fire and smoke could be seen from the roof throughout the entire EZ Stop side of the structure, with fire extension in the Burger King side of the structure.
Shortly after arrival of emergency services, a failure of a portion of the store front on the EZ Stop side of the structure resulted in a partial building collapse, which trapped an Iron Mountain firefighter for approximately 2 minutes. The firefighter was transported by ambulance to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment of burns. Iron Mountain FD also had a second firefighter transported to the hospital by EMS for smoke inhalation. Both firefighters treated at the hospital were released by 8:00 p.m.
Breitung Township Fire Department also had one firefighter treated on scene for a hand injury and smoke inhalation.
